Review Canon PowerShot SX70 hs Price

Superzoom cameras are a pretty interesting category. Generally, cameras in this category are designed as versatile traveling companions: their dimensions are compact, but they keep a lens with a zoom range that is very far away, making it suitable for a variety of needs.

Last July, Canon launched the PowerShot SX740 HS, which is the size of a pocket camera but offers 40x optical zoom. If it turns out that 40x is still not far enough, Canon has another new offer, the PowerShot SX70 HS which is bigger and better at telescoping.

This camera is the direct successor to the PowerShot SX60 HS, but it turns out that the lens used is still the same: 21-1365mm (65x optical zoom, or almost half of Nikon Coolpix P1000), with a maximum aperture of f / 3.4-6.5. What has been overhauled is the innards.

SX70 packs a BSI (backside-illuminated) sensor 1 / 2.3 inches with a resolution of 20.3 megapixels. Accompanied by the Digic 8 processor, this sensor is capable of shooting in RAW Canon CR3 format, whose file size is smaller than CR2. He can record videos in 4K 30 fps resolution, with a maximum bitrate of 120 Mbps.

Canon also promises a more effective image stabilization system through a combination of sensors and new processors, with claims that the system can compensate for shocks of up to five stops. The burst shooting performance is quite fast at 10 fps or 5.7 fps with continuous AF.

Other drastic changes are in the electronic viewfinder (EVF). The panel used is no longer an LCD with a resolution of 922 thousand dots, but a 2.36 million OLED dot like the majority of mirrorless cameras. Previously absent, eye sensors are now present so that a change between the EVF and LCD underneath can occur automatically.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity complement the features offered by the Canon PowerShot SX70 HS. This camera is planned to be marketed in late November for $ 550.
